Hynotherapy to Help You Sleep

Sleep is a curtain pulled on our day. A moment of reconnect. A time to recharge and allow ourselves to heal.

There are so many reasons why people’s sleep might be affected. A few may relate to medications or substance use, or physical health conditions. But in general, the issue relates to the focus we have when we go to bed.

If our focus is pain, then we will experience that pain.

If we are frightened, anxious, scared, then fear is our focus, and we will experience that.

If we are pondering what may happen, then what may happen, the future, is our focus and that may lead to experiences of fear, excitement, anger, anxiety, confusion, sadness.

And if we are pondering what has happened, then what has happened, the past, is our focus. And again, this may lead to experiences of fear, excitement, anger, anxiety, confusion sadness, grief.

Because what we focus on we amplify. And in those situations, it can be really hard to sleep.

When we experience insomnia though, it’s always worth remembering that we do sleep. The issue rests with getting to sleep, or remaining asleep. Certainly, for the amount of time necessary for us to function as we would like.

As the Mayo Clinic says (quote source here):

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep, or cause you to wake up too early and not be able to get back to sleep. You may still feel tired when you wake up. Insomnia can sap not only your energy level and mood but also your health, work performance and quality of life.

How much sleep is enough varies from person to person, but most adults need seven to eight hours a night.

At some point, many adults experience short-term (acute) insomnia, which lasts for days or weeks. It’s usually the result of stress or a traumatic event. But some people have long-term (chronic) insomnia that lasts for a month or more. Insomnia may be the primary problem, or it may be associated with other medical conditions or medications.

So how can Hypnotherapy Help?

The part of us that processes our day, and decides on our focus, is our unconscious mind. If we have stress, fear, or anxiety, then our body tries to prepare us for the issue we feel we are facing. So, our body, our unconscious mind, is trying to protect us and prepare us to fight or escape, or find a solution to a concern, whatever that might be. Unfortunately, most of the stresses and concerns we have are about things that we cannot address, or deal with at the time we are getting ready to sleep. And so, trying to manage them then is of little use to us. In fact, when we do sleep, our ability to find a solution to a problem, our ability to process an event, something that has happened, or to plan for one that might, becomes so much greater. So much more effective. So, in real terms sleeping helps us find the solutions we need. The wonderful thing about Hypnotherapy is that it communicates directly with our unconscious minds, the bit that makes those choices.

  • Using hypnotherapy, I can help you understand the issues you have been focusing on, and learn ways to see them differently, and set them aside.

  • Help you learn ways to relax, something you can use over and over again.

  • Help you find solutions to manage situations in far more effective ways.

It is possible to find peace again.
